I thought I’d share how I came to this decision and the steps I will be taking to get there.Vortec 383 or LS swap for GMT400 Tow Pig/Daily Driver. I’ve pondered the idea of getting a 350 vortec with a mild cam or if I should just get a 5.3 or something. If the 5.7L TBI isn't enough for you, you're not going to like the 5.3L LS very much either. Fold the copper connection over onto the newly taped insulation, and tape over it carefully, tightly and repeatedly to make it waterproof. Black/white stripe is the ground, purple is the fuel sender wire to the guage, and the gray is the power supply. after tapping in my fuel pump relay to the gray wire, my guage didnt work. i snipped the black and white wire, and put a hoop connector on it, and grounded itnear one of the bolts for the pedal assembly. works fine now. hope that ...Dec 2, 2009 · Well its time for the old and leaky 350 to be pulled. Honestly, if you are a Facebook user, there's a great OBS LS swap group on there with tons of great info. For headers look at the Schoenfeld LS swap headers (PN# 1302LS1). But a lot of people will stick with the factory LS manifolds as they actually flow pretty well, unless you are getting into cam swaps etc. But if staying fairly stock, it's probably not worth the hassle to do headers. The oil pressure gauge and coolant temp will reuse the existing sensors/wiring you will just need adapters for the 6.0 threads/ports. Speedometer should be one wire output from the 6.0 ecm that connects to one wire from the DRAC box behind the glove box (may have to adjust output from the 6.0 ecm).The 5.3 are more plentiful and you can still get alot of power by a simple cam swap. I did that when my buddy put a 6.0L in his truck. It already had an 0411 I had tuned. I swapped the tune from a 5.7L/4L60E to a 6.0L/4L80E. I did, and ended up having to drill new holes for the trans cross member 1" behind my original holes. No big deal. Stand alone controllers for the TCC solendoid are available from well-known sources for $200-400. This may be what stutaeng was referring to.
