If heated mirrors were offered on your truck, you just need to plug in the new mirrors. If you have 99-04 when heated mirrors were not offered you will need to make a new connection for the heat feature. You can just wire it to an "accessory on" wire, as that is how Ford has it wired. The gooseneck style mirror is needed when you tow a 96" or 102" wide enclosed trailer. There is no way to see behind the trailer with the nemo mirrors.
